This weekend, jazz and soul music fans can enjoy performances by Grammy Award-winning musicians at Miami's Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater Cultural Arts Complex, 819 NW Second Ave.
The Dranoff International 2 Piano Foundation will present two days – April 29 and May 2 – of performances featuring Etienne Charles and the Creole Soul band and Weedie Braimah in African Beats. That's “two days of top Caribbean, African and American artists exploring their Black African musical heritage,” according to event organizers.
Tickets start at $25 for one day and $40 for a weekend ticket. There are also $5 tickets available for students when they present their ID. The price of the ticket includes the pre-concert talk and concert.

On Friday, April 29, trumpeter Etienne Charles will take the stage with his band, Creole Soul, at 7:30 p.m. But to get a real bang for your buck, don't miss out on the pre-concert discussion in which Etienne plans to discuss the West African roots in Jazz and Caribbean music.
Then, on Sunday, May 1, Ghanaian Djembe star Weedie Braimah joins Etienne Charles on the stage at 3 p.m. Prior to the concert, Etienne Charles will give a pre-concert talk with a panel of local Jazz musicians on the West African influence in Black jazz pianists and composers at 2 p.m.
