Here’s a chance for the whole family to enjoy reading. On Friday, July 6, from 11 to 11:30 a.m., the Kendale Lakes branch hosts family story time. There will be stories, songs and more to enjoy at no charge. The Kendale Lakes branch library is at 15205 SW 88 St.
Bring the little ones to the library for a special winter holiday story time. In addition to stories, there will be fun activities for preschoolers as well. The free event takes place from 11 to 11:40 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, at the Coral Reef Branch, 9211 SW 152 St.
On Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 10 to 10:20 a.m., it’s reading ready story time for babies. This one features soothing songs, stories and finger plays for little ones and their caregivers. It happens at the regional library, 227 – 22 St., Miami Beach.
Families are invited to a themed story time on Saturday, Aug. 20, from 11 to 11:45 a.m. It happens at the Miami-Dade Public Library’s Sunset Branch, 10855 SW 72 St.
On Wednesday, May 25, at 3:30 p.m., take the kids to a Memorial Day event. It happens in the Children’s Story Room of the North Dade Regional Library, 2455 NW 182 St., Miami Gardens.
Head to the Coconut Grove branch library on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 3:30 p.m. for stories, songs and activities for little ones. The library is at 2875 McFarlane Rd., Coconut Grove.
Head to the Key Biscayne branch library at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 21, for stories, songs and activities for toddlers and their caregivers. The branch is at 299 Crandon Blvd., Key Biscayne.
Shakespeare Miami is doing four free performances this weekend of the Shakespear comedy The Taming of the Shrew, about an ill-mannered sister, Kat, and her comical resistance to love and marriage. (This play was the basis for the popular movie 10 Things I Hate About You.)
The play will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, Saturday, Jan. 16 and Sunday, Jan. 17, plus a matinee at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Barnacle Historic State Park, 3485 Main Highway, in Coconut Grove.
Blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics are encouraged. The grounds will open for picnics at 6 p.m. each night.
The company will do a free story time, Tea With Mr. Shakespeare and Friends, from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Barnacle for children 2 to 10. Tiaras are optional.
The play will be performed next weekend in Hollywood.
