Homeowners who are in any stage of foreclosure can attend a free legal seminar Saturday to learn about their rights and designed the types of foreclosure defenses available to them.
The Homeowners Legal Assistance Program will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 14 at the Miami-Dade College Wolfson Campus, 245 NE. Fourth Street, Room 3210, Building 3000.
Presenters include former U.S. Attorney for South Florida Kendall Coffey; Consumer Advocate attorney Leonard Elias of the Miami-Dade Consumer Services Department; attorney Erik Wesoloski, whose law practice concentrates in real estate litigation and real estate transactions; bankruptcy attorney Jordan Bublick; Chief Counsel Glen Theobald of the Miami-Dade Police Department; and Richard Zaretsky, a real estate attorney.
Homeowners will be able to meet with an attorney one-on-one after the presentations. They should bring their documents, including the mortgage and note; any foreclosure papers; and any documents showing the amount past due.
Representative of housing agencies will provide financial assistance information and foreclosure prevention counseling.
