bookreadersAs part of the Florida Center for the Literary Arts Writers’ Institute, Andrea Askowitz and Anjanette Delgado will give a free presentation at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, entitled “You’ve Written a Book, Now What?” at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus, Room 3313-14, on the third floor of Building 3.

Askowitz is the author of the memoir My Miserable, Lonely, Lesbian Pregnancy (Cleis Press) and an adjunct professor at Florida International University. She produces and writes for Lip Service, a true-stories reading series. I’ve heard her speak, and she is really funny.

Delgado is an Emmy-winning writer and multimedia producer. Her first novel, The Heartbreak Pill (Atria), is the story of a jilted scientist who invents a reverse love potion to erase her pain.

The Writers Institute also is presenting a free Pitch-o-Rama open to all writers, with sign-up starting at 1 p.m Saturday, May 9, in Room 2106 at Miami Dade College. Participatings can give 30-second pitches for their books and get feedback.
