It’s not too late for summer reading. And if you’re reading at Books and Books in Bal Harbour, there are some nice perks for bibliophiles.

The movie, The Extra Man, is a comedy, based on Jonathan’s Ames’ book. It’s showing at AMC Aventura 24 on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Hands On Miami’s Summer Film Series presents a free screening of the documentary “When the Levees Broke” on Wednesday, July 21 at Florida International University.

The four-part documentary, directed by Spike Lee, chronicles the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

The screening, running from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., features the second act of the series. A discussion follows the film, and rumor has it there was free popcorn at the last screening.

To see the film, head to FIU’s campus at 11200 SW 8th Street, in Miami.
