The Gold Coast Railroad Museum offers free admission the first Saturday of the month.

Tickets to ride a train range from $2.50 to $12 per ticket. Great for any train enthusiast, Thomas the Train lover or young kids. The food is reasonably priced (Frankie’s pizza food truck!) and there are plenty of trains to explore.

The museum houses 30 historic trains and features a number of displays that are interactive. Hours: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Miami-Dade County wants you to save water. The county has several incentives to encourage that.

The county give you a free high-efficiency shower head in exchange for an old one, up to two per household. You can exchange pre-1996 shower heads during business hours at the Caleb Center, the South Dade Government Center and the water-sewer department office on Douglas Road.

Miami-Dade also offers a rebate of up to $50 for installing a new Water Sense-certified high-efficiency toilet.

Every Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Wolfsonian museum offers free admission and free tours of its permanent collections or temporary exhibitions. Free music is usually a part of this event, too, and the cafe has 2-1 beer, wine and sangria from 6 to 8 p.m.

Latin music artist Carlos Oliva and his band Los Sobrinos del Juez will perform at Tropical Park on Friday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m.as part of the free Noches Tropicales/Tropical Nights concert series presented by the Miami-Dade County.

The concert offers a casual, family-style atmosphere with open field seating. Admission and parking are free for this event.

Jazz in the Gables is a free lunchtime jazz concert series held on the Plaza of the Coral Gables Museum located on Salzedo Street, two blocks north of Miracle Mile.

The concert is held every Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. until March 27. The FIU Jazz Ensemble will perform on Wednesday, January 30.

Enjoy some music and purchase a box lunch from Catering by Lovables which are available for sale on-site every week.
