Miami-Dade County residents can replace older-model toilets with High-Efficiency models.

Single-family residential property owners or tenants, as well as multi-family property owners, may receive a $50 rebate with the purchase and installation of a WaterSense-certified High-Efficiency toilet.

The residential property must have been built prior to 1996. To quality for the rebate, you must submit the appropriate application form, the original purchase receipt and packaging information from the manufacturer showing that the toilet is WaterSense-certified. The third chance this year for Miami-Dade County residents to adopt two trees will take place on Saturday, December 1.

Mango trees only will be available at the following event, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Saturday, Dec. 1, 9 a.m. – noon at Gold Coast Railroad Museum.

Miami-Dade single-family or duplex homeowners are eligible to receive 2 free trees per year, even if they have adopted trees in past years.

At the event, residents can exchange their old showerheads and standard light bulbs for high-efficiency showerheads and compact fluorescent light bulbs.

On the morning of Sunday, Oct. 16, Miami-Dade Animal Services, the Humane Society of Greater Miami and the Cat Network are offering county residents free spay and neuter surgeries for feral and free-roaming cats.

Two hundred appointments for the scheduled time of 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. have been filled. However, walk-ins will be accepted between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Surgeries will be performed at the Humane Society’s spay/neuter clinic, 10700 SW 211 St.
