Jazz in the Gables happens on Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m. with free music and box lunches for sale. This week, on April 13, it’s the FIU Latin Jazz Ensemble. They’ll perform on the plaza of the Coral Gables Museum, 285 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables.
Latin jazz artist Kiki Sanchez will perform on Friday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m. as part of the Noches Tropicales concert series. The Peruvian-born pianist will play at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40 St.
Neptune Cigar Superstore hosts cigarmaker Carlos Torano on Friday, Nov. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m.
He’ll speak about making premium cigars. There will be specials on his cigars and live Latin jazz.
Neptune Cigar Superstore is at 9308 S. Dixie Hwy.
Food, drinks and blankets are welcome. Pets are not.
The Optimist Club will be sell sandwiches and snacks, and Jewel the Clown will do face painting for the kids.
Three contemporary Spanish singers, plus Miami spoken word artist Deborah Magdalena, will give a free concert at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Collins Park, west of Collins Avenue between 21st and 22nd streets, in front of the Bass Museum. Museum admission will be free from 3 to 5 p.m., too.
The Taste of the Gables – from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 29 — provides free samples from some of the restaurants participating in the June 1-14 Coral Gables Restaurant Week. Restaurant Week, which is actually two weeks, is a sort of Miami Spice for Coral Gables, in which restaurants offer discounted meals.
The Taste of the Gables will be in the Via between Tarpon Bend and Fritz and Franz (65 Miracle Mile). Negroni’s Trio will provide live Latin jazz.
