The Alhambra Orchestra will present “Romantic Russians,” a free classical concert conducted by Zoe Zeniodi on Sunday, April 7, at 7 p.m. at Ransom-Everglades School, 3575 Main Highway, Coconut Grove, 33133.

Latin music artist Carlos Oliva and his band Los Sobrinos del Juez will perform at Tropical Park on Friday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m.as part of the free Noches Tropicales/Tropical Nights concert series presented by the Miami-Dade County.

The concert offers a casual, family-style atmosphere with open field seating. Admission and parking are free for this event.

Miami Dade College’s ‘Jazz at Wolfson Presents’ will feature pianist Jim Gasior at noon, Wednesday, December 5. Admission is free.

A frequent accompanist for the Jazz at Wolfson Presents series, Gasior is a jazz educator based in South Florida who performs regularly with Ed Calle, Wendy Pedersen, Fernando Ulibarri and Aaron Lebos.

MDC’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents features live performances that run monthly from September through April. The concerts are free and open to the public.

The Alhambra Orchestra, with MISO concertmaster Daniel Andai conducting, presents its first classical concert of the season Sunday evening, November 18 at 7 p.m., at Ransom-Everglades School. Free admission.

The program opens with Debussy’s “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun,” and concludes with the monumental Seventh Symphony of Beethoven.

In a double role, Dr. Andai as soloist also joins three young artists from MISO’s Special Development Program, which he founded — Erin David, David Fernandez, , and Liuba Ohrimenko– to perform Vivaldi’s lively Concerto for Four Violins with the Alhambra Orchestra’s string section.

The Adrienne Arsht Center is hosting its free Family Fest on Saturday, November 3 at 11:30 a.m.

Activities include a one-hour free Miami Music Project orchestral concert. This family-friendly performance will be a highlight of the three-month, community-wide Light / The Holocaust and Humanity Project.

11:30 a.m. – Outdoor activities on the Parker and Vann Thomson Plaza

1:30 p.m. – Special performance by Miami Music Project in the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall

Reserve your free first-access pass for the 1:30 p.m. performance or call (305) 949-6722. These passes provide patrons with first access to seating in the theater. Seating is “first come, first serve” for the performance and passes do not guarantee a seat.

Patrons who do not reserve their passes can join the stand-by line beginning at 12:30 p.m. outside the theater. Passes expire at 1:15 p.m.. Patrons in the stand-by line will be let into the theater at 1:15 p.m. if seats are still available in the theater.

The Miami-Dade Parks is giving the community the opportunity to enjoy the vibrant music and culture of Haiti as they host a free, live concert on Friday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Oak Grove Park, featuring the legendary Magnum Band. It’s all part of the season’s expanded free Noches Tropicales/Tropical Nights concert series. Admission and parking are free for this event.

Magnum Band was formed in 1976, by the Haitian-born Pasquet brothers André “Dadou” and Claude “Tico”; and has been touted as one of the most diverse and longest-running bands by the Haitian music industry.

The band is legendary for creating a unique style of Konpa music (the African-based music of Haiti); blending socially conscious lyrics and elements of their Haitian roots and Caribbean culture with a twist of jazz, pop, and soul-filled rhythms.  Some of Magnum Band’s most popular songs include “Paka Pala,” “Ashadei,” “Fierte,” “Moun Sa,” “Pike Devan,” and “Severite.”

Oak Grove Park is located at 690 N E 159 St., Miami, 33162. Concert goers are encouraged to bring along a blanket, chairs and snacks to better enjoy the festivities. In the event of rain concerts may be cancelled.

Miami Dade College’s Arts and Philosophy Department will continue its free series, Jazz at Wolfson Presents, at noon, Wednesday, November 7, featuring saxophonist Richie Cole.

Sax master, arranger, composer and educator Richie Cole began playing alto saxophone at age 10, winning a full scholarship from DownBeat magazine when he was in high school to attend the prestigious Berklee School of Music.

His career began in 1969 when he joined the big bands of Buddy Rich and then Lionel Hampton and Doc Severinsen. Next he formed his own quintet, touring worldwide and popularizing his own “Alto Madness.” He also toured with jazz vocalese artist Eddie Jefferson, who appeared on Cole’s Hollywood Madness.

MDC’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents features live performances that run monthly from September through April. The concerts are free and open to the public.

All ages are invited and make it a picnic under the stars. It’s all part of the season’s free Noches Tropicales concert series presented by the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department and sponsored by Target.

Admission and parking are free for this event. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Hernandez, a Cuban-born singer/songwriter is known for her vocals, lyrics and stage presence. She can sing a bolero, a guaguancó or timba and it will become a whole new sound, as she infuses her own unique rhythm, soul and style into each and every song she sings.

 “A Spooky Symphony,” featuring the most beautiful scary music you’ve ever heard by The Greater Miami Youth Symphony and the Alhambra Orchestra will take place Sunday, Oct. 28, at 4 p.m. Get there early. The place gets packed!

The free Halloween family concert features excerpts from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Spiderman, and a variety of classical selections. Additional concert highlights include a multimedia presentation. Kids are encouraged to dress in their best Halloween costumes to enhance the supernatural experience.

The Alhambra Orchestra and Greater Miami Youth Symphony. Program conducted by Huifang Chen and presented by The Children’s Trust.

Enjoy a free concert by the jazz band Oriente at Miami Tower, Wednesday, Sept 12, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m., Reception/Cash Bar and Snacks, from 6 p.m.-7 p.m.

Formed in 1993 by Cuban-born guitarist/composer Eddy Balzola, Oriente’s sound features funky guitar driven tambaos, brass and Afro-percussion fusing Cuban roots with Blues, Jazz, Caribbbean and Brazilian influences.
