The Wynwood Art Walk and the Miami Design District Art + Design night are the second Saturday of each month, close enough to go to both if you have the stamina.

On Saturday, Oct. 15, and Sunday, Oct. 16, head to the babies and childrens store from noon to 6 p.m. for savings of 30 to 70 percent on floor models, discontinued products, overstock and imperfect items.
All sales are final, no returns or exchanges. Everything is sold “as is” and can be paid for only with Visa, MasterCard, American Express or cash. Genius Jones is at 49 NE 39 St., in the Design District.
Families are invited to the Design District for an afternoon of fun on Saturday, Sept. 24, from noon to 4 p.m. Among the highlights are the Addams Family Activities, including mask-making and a scavenger hunt. It happens in various locations around the district, which is bounded by NE 38 and 41 streets, NE Second and Miami avenues.
Rainbow City is a 40-piece environmental installation by FriendsWithYou intended to elicit a religious and childlike awareness. The air-filled structures range in height from 10 to 40 feet and there are sound elements as well. Friday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 5, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 140 NE 39 St.
The Miami Design District merchants will celebrate Family Day from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 17.
Among the free activities will be a children’s art tour of the de la Cruz galleries with a chance for children to have their favorite works painted on their faces. Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink will be among the establishments with food carts.
Centro Cultural Espanol, in collaboration with Radio Televisión Española, will show a free film at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at 4141 NE Second Ave. Suite 102 in the Miami Design District.
The documentary A Day at El Bulli follows chefs, waiters and customers at a top restaurant in Spain. It will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles.
On Saturday, July 18, photographers around the world will be joining Scott Kelby’s 2nd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk, sponsored by NAPP and Adobe.
The local versions of this free “social photography event” will talk place at 9:30 a.m. on South Beach, 11 a.m. in the Design District and 6:30 p.m. in Coconut Grove (this one is full).
New York Magazine has done a “weekend escapes” story on how to live the luxe life for less as a traveler to Miami. Since they recommended checking Miami FL on the Cheap for tips, I figure they must know what they’re talking about.
A few nuggets:
* The upscale Fratelli Lyon, 4141 NE Second Ave., Miami, has free appetizers from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays.
* Design District Second Saturday, the free art walk in Wynwood and the Design District, is a great place to find new talent and free drinks.
* The Viceroy Miami, 485 Brickell Ave., which opened in February, is offering introductory rates starting at $199 per night. (We found some deals for Florida residents, too.)
