Free fun fest at Biscayne National Park

Biscayne National Park has a free Family Fun Fest from 1 to 4 p.m. the second Sunday of every month from December through April.

Each month focuses on a different aspect of the park`s diverse resources with games, science experiments, presentations and more.

The Sunday, Jan. 10, will focus on how parks across the country tell part of the national story. Kids can travel with Spanish explorer Hernando DeSoto, find out who lives in the top of a redwood tree, and see if superheroes Ice Baby and Quench can thwart Dr. Verduga’s evil plans to melt glaciers and dry up lakes in Episode 2 of Climate: 911!

Free Veterans Day entry to U.S. parks

In honor of Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11, the federal government will offer free admission to all national parks, including Everglades National Park and Dry Tortugas National Park, off Key West.

Biscayne National Park in Miami is always free.

You can also get in free at other national parks in Florida that charge admission. Some Florida national parks are always free.
