This summer,  if your child reads eight books and fills out the 2010 Passport to Summer Reading, Barnes & Noble will give your son or daughter a free book.

To get the free book, your child must fill out the passport and track the characters’ adventures. From May 25 through Sept. 7, the young reader can swap the completed form for a book. The deal is for students in grades 1 through 6.

The list of free books to choose from includes popular characters like Curious George and Judy Moody; timeless authors like Beverly Cleary and Roald Dahl, and even a Rick Riordan book.

curiousjorgeHere’s a tip from our friends at Cities on the Cheap:

This summer, if your child reads eight books, he or she can get a free book from Barnes & Noble.

Want yours? Fill out the reading journal and sign off as your child finishes each book. From May 26 through Sept. 7, your kid can swap the journal for a book. The deal’s good for students in grades 1-6 only.

Unfortunately, not every book in the store is part of the promotion, but there are some excellent choices on the list of eligible titles: you’ll find popular characters like Curious George & Fancy Nancy; timeless authors like Beverly Cleary and Judy Blume, and even celebrities like Whoopi Goldberg.
