How many ska bands does it take to screw in a light bulb? Sweat Records does the research on Friday, April 27, starting at 8 p.m. Bands include Orpheus, from Wisconsin, as well as locals Alternate State and Slugage. Entry is free and all ages are welcome. Sweat Records is at 5505 NE Second Ave.

It’s an evening of garage music on Saturday, Nov. 26, at Sweat Records. Beginning at 8 p.m.,  hear Beach Day, Toad Eyes, and the Gun Hoes. You can also check out the merchandise offered in the Black Friday (and Saturday) garage sale. The free, all-ages event takes place at Sweat Records, 5505 NE Second Ave.

On Saturday, Nov. 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Frost School of Opera presents its annual Wall to Wall Opera for All festival. This year’s event is devoted to Orpheus.

There will be indoor and outdoor opera and song performances, Arias on the Hour, poetry readings, film and opera screenings, and more.

Admission is free and programming is suitable for all ages. Head to the Frost School of Music quad at the University of Miami, Coral Gables. Call 305 284 4162 for more.

Sneak previews of the Lisa Loeb all-ages musical Camp Kappawanna will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. and Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m. Saturday’s show is at Books and Books, 265 Aragon Ave. On Sunday, head to the Byron Carlyle Theater, 550 – 71 St., Miami Beach. The show doesn’t open until late July. But on Thursday, May 19, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., you’re invited to a sneak preview of Cirque Elioze’s iD. This event will feature video from the show as well as live circus acts, vendors and giveaways. Appropriate for all ages, it happens on Thompson Plaza at the Arsht Center, 1300 Biscayne Blvd.

The 13th annual Afro Roots World Music Festival takes place on Saturday, April 16, beginning at 5 p.m. In addition to live music by performers including Boukman Eksperyans, Locos por Juana and the Spam All-Stars, there will be vendors, a percussion jam (bring your drum!), food and drink. Regular tickets are $15 at the door, $10 in advance (click here). Seniors and students get in for $10 at the door. This all-ages event happens at 7th Circuit Studios, 228 NE 59 St.
