School carnivals usually have free admission and you pay for the amusement rides via tickets. (Often, the wrist bands are the better deal.) Food also is available for purchase. We’ve got two family-friendly carnivals to tell you about this week:
- Feb. 23-26: Dade Christian School Carnival (6601 NW 167th St., Miami, 33015) Fundraiser. Entrance and parking are free. Amusement ride tickets may be purchased at the ticket booths. Food may be purchased within the carnival grounds. Hours: 5-10 pm Feb 23; 5- 11 pm Feb 24; noon-midnight Feb 25; 1-10 pm Feb 26. For more info, call 305-822-7690.
- Feb. 24-26: Tombola at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School (500 SW 127th Ave., Miami, 33184). Free admission and limited parking. Entertainment includes music, dance and acting by students. Valet parking $10. Amusement ride tickets can be bought at the booth. The marketplace will sell all sorts of stuff from clothing to artwork. Culinary extravaganza kickoff dinner on Feb. 24 is $60 per person. Wine and beer tasting on Feb. 25 is $30 at the door. Raffle drawing on Feb. 26.
