Load up on the coffee before attending this event because it’s an all-nighter. Relay for Life participants will fight to stay awake from Saturday, March 1, at noon until Sunday, March 2, at 8 a.m. at Evelyn Greer Park, 8200 SW 124 St.
The theme for this year’s event is World’s Fair 2014. The Village team’s theme is France and Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner will lead the Youth Advisory Council with a Spain theme.
Each team will have a dedicated booth featuring food from the country the team is representing, an activity and a fact board about a specific type of cancer. Kids can enjoy bounce houses and pony rides, and bands will perform throughout the night. After hours activities led by the Pinecrest Youth Advisory Council will include an eating contest and card games. The event is free and open to the public.
All cancer survivors will be honored and are welcome to attend. There will be a Survivors Tent where survivors can eat lunch and dinner. There will be complimentary massages and goodie bags provided. Luminaria bags and candles will be available the day of the event for a $5 donation.
Overflow parking will be available at Miami Palmetto Senior High School (7460 SW 118th Street) with the Pinecrest People Mover making continuous stops for pick-up and drop-off from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
