Think “Guy’s Grocery Games” from Food Network, but local. That’s what’s happening on Tuesday, July 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Whole Foods Market, 12150 Biscayne Blvd., North Miami during the Fill the Grill Challenge.
The competition matches up three of Miami’s hottest chefs with students from Johnson & Wales University’s culinary program. Helping out the college kids are chefs Aaron Brooks from EDGE Steak & Bar, Todd Erickson from Huahua’s Taqueria and HaVen South Beach and Giorgio Rapicavoli from Eating House.
The competition is as follows: Each team is given $20 and 20 minutes to speed-shop the store for ingredients and an additional 20 minutes to create an affordable and creative summer meal, using only a grill. The winning student receives a $500 Whole Foods gift card and the chef gets a $200 Whole Foods gift card. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges. Whole Foods will also donate $500 to the Johnson & Wales University scholarship fund.
