You don’t have to be gay to have a gay old time during this week’s Gay Pride Festival in Miami Beach.
The event includes a number of free events, including the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade, a street festival and a free concert by the New World Symphony. You can see all the Gay Pride events here. Here are the highlights:
- Wallcast Concert. The New World Symphony performs music by Honegger, Poulenc and Saint-Saens. Saturday, April 11 at 8 p.m., New World Center, Soundscape Park, 500 17 St.
- Miami Beach Gay Pride Festival. The street festival includes vendors, musical performances, food, a business expo and a family-friendly play area between Saturday, April 11, and Sunday, April 12, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Lummus Park, 11th to 14th streets and Ocean Dr.
- Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade. Actor and TV host Mario Lopez serves as Grand Marshal. Sunday, April 12, noon to 1 p.m., Fifth Street and Ocean Drive traveling to 15th Street.
- Performances at AHF Stage, Palace Stage and Vapor Shark Stage. Dancers, DJs and singers perform at stages on 11th, 12th and 13th streets and Ocean Drive. Saturday, April 11, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on AHF and 1 to 9 p.m. at Vapor Shark and Sunday, April 12, from 1 to 9 p.m. at Vapor Shark, 1 to 8 p.m. at AHF and 1 to 11 p.m. at Palace Stage. There will be fireworks at each stage at 9 p.m.
