Free art classes for adults 55+ at Miami-Dade libraries

get_social_hdrSeniors can learn a few new skills and enjoy socialization in the Get Social @ The Library: Art Programs for Adults 55+ at area public libraries from February through May. Registration is required for any series and participants must commit to all eight sessions.

Kicking off the series is the Fine Art Digital Photography with Jeremiah Jenner teaching the basics of fine art, digital photography. Students’ works will be displayed in a culminating exhibition. Classes are Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 15 through April 5 with the culminating exhibition on April 19 at North Central Branch Library, 9590 NW 27 Ave., 305-693-4541

Next up is Elements and Style of Drawing with Vanessa Garcia, covering basic drawing techniques. Classes are Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from March 27 to May 15 with the culminating exhibit on May 22 at Miami Beach Regional Library, 227 22nd St., 305-535-4219.

Then it’s the Principles and Elements of Drawing with Silvana Soriano about basic drawing techniques. Classes are Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon from March 31 to May 19 with the culminating exhibit on May 29 at Homestead Branch Library, 700 N Homestead Blvd., 305-246-0168
