Pay homage to mother Earth for everything she provides you, from the air you breathe to the water you drink and the food you eat. And what better day to celebrate than Sunday, April 20 (Earth Day), at the West Kendall Earth Day Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum, 12450 SW 152 St., Kendall.
The free family event will feature live entertainment, a green car show, kids activities, arts and crafts and educational displays by organizations that teach how to reduce, reuse and recycle.
Kids will love the bounce houses, miniature golf, photos with superhero characters and princesses, a coloring station, sandbox and story time plus recycling themed games with prize winnings. There’s also an Easter Egg Hunt where the $5 donation to participate benefits the American Cancer Society.
Adults can learn about organic farming, composting, rain barrels and environmentally friendly showerheads and lightbulbs. For car enthusiasts who want to green up their ride, there will be info and displays of hybrid and electronic cars from Honda, Ford, Toyota, GM and Nissan.
Featured live performers are local singers Priscilla Vergel and Jennifer Diaz as well as Alouettes Dance Academy, Eryka del Cueto and Beauty Touches Production Group.
