Free play ‘The Zoo Story’

ground-up-and-rising-zoo-storyThe theater company Ground Up & Rising will present free performances of Edward Albee’s “The Zoo Story” at Miami Beach Botanical Garden July 7 and 14.

Here’s the story, from Ground Up & Rising’s website:

Peter is a middle-class publishing executive with a wife, two daughters, two cats and two parakeets. Jerry is an isolated and disheartened man. These men meet on a park bench in New York’s Central Park. Jerry is desperate to have a meaningful conversation with another human being. The elements of ironic humor and unrelenting dramatic suspense are brought to a climax when Jerry brings his victim down to his own savage level.

Performances will be at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, July 7, and Sunday, July 14, at Miami Beach Botanical Garden, 2000 Convention Center Dr., Miami Beach, FL 33138.
