The classic theatrical comedy “Tartuffe” is reinvented in this performance presented by The Barry University Department of Fine Arts. Performances will be Thursday, April 10, through Saturday, April 12, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at the Broad Center for the Performing Arts, 11300 NE 2 Ave., Miami Shores.
In “Tartuffe: Born Again,” a reimagining by Samuel French, Tartuffe is cast as a deposed televangelist who cheats Orgon and his family of their money and property and nearly compromises Orgon’s wife.
The play is set in a religious television studio in Baton Rouge. Written in modern verse, the play follows the structure and form of the original.
