Free Health Fair helps kids make healthy choices

health2Parents, bring your kids and join the fun as Miami-Dade County Extension’s 4-H Youth Development/Family and Consumer Science department hosts its first Open House: “Helping Kids Make Healthy Choices”  Saturday, March 22, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at  The Farm Village at Amelia Earhart Park, 401 E. 65 St. Hialeah.

Families are encouraged to participate in a day of fun, hands-on learning activities, including planting a Florida-friendly garden, creating healthy trail mix treats, discovering fruits and vegetables, a presentation on the importance of bees, a look at “Why we Love Worms,” fun facts about diet and exercise plus giveaways.

Kids can also interact with the Farm Village animals and learn how to become involved with 4-H programs throughout Miami-Dade County.
