Free gala opening of the Koubek Mansion

koubek-mdcMiami Dade College is planning a gala celebration to mark the recent reopening of the historic Koubek Mansion and Gardens and the inauguruation of the center’s theater at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 9.

The free event will include a monologue written and directed by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and MDC alumnus Nilo Cruz, plus poetry readings and music by Olga Maria Touzet Guillot, daughter of Olga Guillot and René Touzet.

The ArtSpace Gallery will host the exhibition “Journey to the Center of the Stage,” a colorful exhibit of theatrical set and costume designs by Jorge Noa and Pedro Balmaseda.

The Koubek Center hosts workshops, art exhibitions, theater and music performances, literary readings, and more. It is part of MDCulture, the Cultural Affairs Department of the College.

The event will be 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at the Koubek Center. 2705 SW Third St., Miami.
