Making its U.S. debut, the highly-anticipated World OutGames Miami 2017 will welcome LGBTQI athletes from more than 60 countries – many where homosexuality remains illegal and hidden — for what is billed as the world’s largest 10-day Sports, Culture and Human Rights event from May 26 through June 4. The public is invited to watch the games, which includes just about every sport from badminton to water polo.

Invisible: May 26 – June 4 (Closed May 29 in observance of Memorial Day). Tuesday through Friday from 9 am–6 pm; Saturday and Sunday from 11 am–4 pm at The Hub at the LGBT Visitor Center (1130 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139). The exhibit will raise awareness on issues of social relevance through the creativity of Vladimir Rios paired with the photography of Lester Blum. A gallery of portraits, written testimonials and a video documentary will depict individual’s feelings of being lonely.
Sex and the Sea: May 26 – 28 (times vary). Museum Park, aboard Georg Stage (1075 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132). The Danish training ship Georg Stage will be moored in Museum Park Miami. As part of the OutCities partnership with the City of Copenhagen, attendees will board the magnificent Danish training ship the Georg Stage for a truly unique and artistic podcast-tour experience. ARTworkOUT: May 27, 10–11 am at the Peréz Art Museum Miami (PAMM) (1103 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132). World OutGames has partnered with PAMM and Equinox for a free Celebrity ARTworkOUT. Attendees will take in the splendor of the beautiful bay of Miami while enjoying a cardio workout in a welcoming and inclusive environment. All ARTworkOUT attendees will receive a complimentary pass to the Pérez Museum Miami valued at $16 (only valid May 27, 2017).
Favorite Poem Project World OutGames: May 28, 5–6 pm (reading session), 6–8 pm (cocktail reception) at The Betsy Hotel’s Art Deco Wing, (1433 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139). The Favorite Poem Project, in partnership with the Betsy South Beach and the Poetry Foundation, will host a special poetry reading. Local poetry mavens and World OutGames participants will share their favorite poems with a read aloud session featuring admired poets such as, Emily Dickinson, Pablo Neruda and Langston Hughes.
Life of Pi: May 31 at 8 pm (rain or shine) at the New World Center’s Soundscape Park (400 17th St, Miami Beach, FL 33139). The Soundscape Cinema Series is presented generously by Citi® and curated by the City of Miami Beach Cultural Affairs Program. Guests will enjoy a special showing of the Life of Pi, a cinematically breathtaking film about a young man’s epic journey of adventure and discovery and winner of four Academy Awards. #5Films4Freedom: June 1, 8:30–9:45 pm at the New World Center’s Soundscape Park, (400 17th St, Miami Beach, FL 33139). #5Films4Freedom is the first global digital LGBT short-film program that include both drama and documentaries and tell stories of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender experiences. Now in its third year, the British Council in partnership with the British Film Institute, present its newest crop of five short films in FiveFilms4Freedom 2017. Attendees will can all five films from the UK to mark the 50th anniversary, including Crush, Heavy Weight, Jamie, Still Burning and Where We Are Now.
