miami-dade-north-holiday-festivalMiami Dade College’s North Campus, 11380 NW 27 Ave., is all decked out in festive holiday decor for the free Children’s Holiday at North celebration Saturday, Dec. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Santa arrives by helicopter promptly at 11 a.m. where he will sit by a chimney and pose for pictures with children and watch as they mail their letters. Meanwhile, Mrs. Claus rides a horse-drawn carriage to lead the holiday parade featuring marching  bands and popular holiday characters.

Kids can also enjoy sliding down a 12-foot snow mountain in tubes and taking in the holiday snow village. Providing entertainment are Disney favorites Lilo and Stitch, Hip Hop Kidz, hula fire dancers, belly dancers, Miami Classic Ballet, South Florida Youth Symphony plus jazz bands and orchestras from area middle and high schools.

There will also be face painting, a rock climbing wall, a petting zoo, bounce houses, train rides, dog shows and arts and crafts. Families are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to the toy drive.
