Bird-Road-Art-WalkThe Bird Road Art Walk is held the third Saturday of every month from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Celebrate art, music, poetry and more during the Bird Road Art Walk.

Enjoy free parking and a free shuttle service  that loops continuously throughout the district stopping at each participating artists’ studio and gallery.  Start your Art Walk at any of the participating studios.

Click here for the gallery listings. The studios are open to the public during the Bird Road Art Walk on the 3rd Saturday of every month from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. and by appointment all other times.

magic-city-casino-food-trucksMagic City Casino hosts a free Wheelin’ Dealin’ Street Food Festival the third Saturday of the month with a roundup of food trucks and a free concert at Secada’s.

Food trucks will be at the casino from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Across the way at Secada’s, Aaron Carter will perform a free concert at 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 18.

big-night-in-little-haitiBig Night in Little Haiti takes place on the third Friday of the month, with children’s activities as well as artists, arts and crafts and food vendors from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Free admission and free parking.

This month’s concert features  Skah Shah #1, X-Tassy and Rara Lakay in celebration of Haitian Heritage Month.

adopt-a-tree-residentMiami-Dade County single-family or duplex homeowners are eligible to receive two free trees per year, even if they have adopted trees in past years.  The tree giveaway will take place May, July and September.

Tree quantities are limited and will be given away on a first come, first served basis.

family-day-on-aragonFamily Day on Aragon is the second Saturday of the month in Coral Gables. That means $5 movies at the Coral Gables Art Cinema in the mornings and free admission plus family arts and crafts at the  Coral Gables Museum in the afternoon, plus author events for children at Books & Books.

The Coral Gables Cinema will screen Safey Last, a classic Harold Lloyd silent film,  at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11,  and Sunday, May 12. Tickets are $5 for everyone and include popcorn and a soda. The Coral Gables Cinema is at 260 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables, 33134.

At 1 p.m. at Books and Books, author L.A. Campbell will discuss “Cartboy and the Time Capsule,” his novel about the “horribly historic, hilarious” year of a sixth-grader. The event is free. Books & Books is at 265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables 33134.

The Coral Gables Museum will feature free arts and crafts from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. At 4 p.m., Our Pride Academy will present a scene from Carlo Goldoni’s commedia dell’arte play, “The Servant of Two Masters.” This event is free. On the second Saturday of the month, from 1 to 4 p.m., there is  no charge for admission to the Miami Art Museum.  The Second Saturdays are Free for Families features hands-on activities for children and adults.

Tours are at 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. This month, children will have a chance to create their own artwork.

MAM is located at 101 W. Flagler St., 33130.  Parking: $5 at 50 NW 2nd Ave., overflow parking at 270 NW 2nd St.

HistoryMiami museum hosts a  free family fun day from noon to 5 p.m. the second Saturday of every month.

On May 11, 2013,history-miami-logo visitors can experience Middle Eastern culture with artist-in-residence Joe Zeytoonian. There will be a chance to try your hand at drumming Arabic rhythms and to learn about traditional danse Orientale (sometimes referred to as “bellydancing”).

The museum gathers and presents the history of Miami andSouth Florida as a cultural crossroads of the Americas.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and will have to sign a waiver. Bring you own yoga mat, water, and towel.

Beginners, intermediate, and advanced welcome. Classes are taught by a certified yoga teacher. In the event of rain, classes take place in the Bayfront Park office.

Coral-Gables-Gallery-NightThe first Friday of the month is Coral Gables Gallery Night, free from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Virginia Miller and the Coral Gables Gallery Association feature a night where local galleries present their artwork to the public.

Take the free trolley to the different galleries or walk from gallery to gallery. Many of the galleries offer free wine.

MIA Encore sponsors the Downtown Miami First Friday Gallery Night from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. the first Friday of every month, in collaboration with the arts and culture community of Downtown Miami.

During First Friday Art Walk, admission to MIA Encore will be free from 6-10 p.m.. Participating organizations include Bas Fisher Invitational, Dimensions Variable, Artisan Lounge, Wine by the Bay, Nina Torres Gallery, Eleazar Delgado Studio and Giants in the City.

All venues are within two block of free Metromover and Trolley stations.
