‘Accordion Invasion’ free parade and concert

Accordion-InvasionA band of accordions will parade up South Beach on Saturday, May 18, ending in a free concert.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with pre-parade refreshment at the The Betsy Hotel, 1440 Ocean Drive. The parade will begin at 7 p.m. as the accordion band proceeds to Art Center/South Florida on Lincoln Road, where the squeezebox ensemble will present a musical program at 8 p.m. at the Art Center’s Project 924.

Featured accordionists will include local Klezmer favorite Shlomo Geva and  “Latin Diva of the Accordion,” Maricarmen Vazquez.

The Accordion Invasion is presented by Next @19th, which seeks to “engage South Florida’s diverse community in dynamic culture, experience and discourse through a Jewish lens.”
